Manuscript & Submission Guidelines
JOHSK Publication Fee Policy: The Journal of Health, Sports, and Kinesiology (JOHSK) does not charge any publication fees. However, all authors listed on the manuscript must be registered and paid members of IOHSK at the time of submission. No exceptions will be made.
Please confirm that all authors listed on the manuscript are registered and paid members of IOHSK at the time of submission. Manuscripts that do not meet this requirement will not proceed to review, and no submission confirmation will be issued to the corresponding author. Please type each author’s full name and IOHSK membership number (e.g., John Martin, 07-2026-36000). A portion of the annual IOHSK membership fees supports publication-related costs, including the peer-review process, article layout and design, editorial and production software, DOI registration, Crossref registration, and indexing services.
General Information
The Journal of Health, Sports, and Kinesiology (JOHSK; ISSN 2692-9864) is an open-access peer-reviewed research journal that publishes research articles in the fields of health, sports, and kinesiology. JOHSK considers only those manuscripts that have not been published previously, and are not being considered for publication elsewhere. If you have any questions related to manuscript preparation, please contact us at office@iohsk.org.
Manuscript Preparation
The language of the manuscript must be English. All manuscripts should be in an electronic format, using an 8.5-by-11-inch page set-up (letter size) with wide margins (top, bottom, right, and left with 1 inch). All parts of the manuscript should be typed in double-spaced with continuous line numbering in a native word-processing format (e.g., Microsoft Word). All manuscripts should not include footnotes or endnotes. The length of the manuscript, excluding references, should be between 5,000-8,000 words. Each manuscript allows up to 50 references in the main text. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a title page, including the title of the manuscript and all authors' information (name, institution, and email). The title page should be submitted as a separated file. Each manuscript must be accompanied by a cover letter, and the cover letter should be submitted as a separated file.
A cover letter should include: (a) your manuscript’s title, (b) statement that your paper has not been previously published and is not currently under consideration by another journal, (c) a brief description of the research you are reporting in your paper, why it is important, and why you think the readers of the journal would be interested in it, (d) contact information for you and any co-authors, and (e) confirmation that you have no competing interests to disclose
Manuscript (Main Document) Structure
Blind Title Page:
Titles should be concise and informative, no more than 20 words. Try to avoid abbreviations and formulae where possible.
Abstract:
A concise and factual abstract is required (a maximum length of 250 words). The abstract should state briefly the purpose of the research, the principal results, and major conclusions. An abstract is often presented separately from the article, so it must be able to stand alone. References should therefore be avoided, but if essential, they must be cited in full, without reference to the reference list.
Keywords:
Immediately after the abstract, provide a maximum of 5 keywords, avoiding general and plural terms and multiple concepts (avoid, for example, 'and', 'of').
Main Text:
The body of the manuscript should be structured in a logical to follow manner. A clear introduction section should be given that allows non-specialists in the subject an understanding of the publication and a background of the issue(s) involved. Methods, results, discussion, and conclusion sections may then follow to clearly detail the information and research being presented.
References:
Author(s) should follow the latest edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA) style (currently 7th edition) in referencing, and each manuscript allows up to 50 references in the main text. Please visit www.apastyle.org to learn more about APA style.
Tables and Figures:
Present tables and figures at the end of the article. Please note that the article will be published in black and white. Tables and figures must include a brief title. Provide generous spacing within tables and use as few line rules as possible. When tables are necessary, the information should not duplicate data in the text. Tables and figures must include the units of variation (standard deviations) or precision (standard errors). Limit tables that extend to multiple Word document pages.
The Review Process
Manuscripts are printed in the earliest appropriate and available issue following acceptance.
Average peer-review time: 15-21 days
Average time from acceptance to ahead of print publishing: 7-10 days
Please note that most academic journals worldwide are experiencing challenges and delays in securing qualified peer reviewers. As a result, the review process may take longer than usual. JOHSK remains committed to finding reviewers with appropriate expertise to ensure a fair, rigorous, and high-quality peer review for every submitted manuscript. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Penalty for Plagiarism
All manuscripts must not have been published previously in any format (internet website, journal, newsletter, etc.), with the exception of abstracts presented at scientific meetings (e.g., conferences). Falsification of data, duplicate publication, breach of confidentiality, abuse of research subjects, and so on are considered violations of the ethical conduct of research. JOHSK reserves the right to investigate and impart punishment for any such violation. All allegations of potential misconduct will be investigated by the JOHSK editorial team.
Publications
All authors who have accepted articles will be notified and will receive details regarding the completion of the publication process. The collection of ORCID from corresponding authors is now part of the submission process of JOHSK. If you already have an ORCID you will be asked to associate that to your submission during the online submission process. If you do not currently have an ORCID please follow this link to create: https://orcid.org
