Future Leaders in Health & Sport: 2026 IOHSK Scholarship Recipients Announced
The International Organization for Health, Sports, and Kinesiology (IOHSK) is pleased to announce the recipients of the 2026 IOHSK Scholarship for high school students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and meaningful involvement in health- and sport-related activities.
This scholarship is designed to support and encourage high school students worldwide who have a strong interest in the fields of health, physical activity, sport, and related professions. Eligible applicants should be actively involved in school- or community-based activities such as health or medical clubs, community health and wellness initiatives, varsity athletic programs (as student-athletes), or health-related volunteer work. Applicants must demonstrate consistent and meaningful participation in school-approved activities and meet one of the following academic standards over the past two semesters: an overall GPA of 3.80 or higher on a 4.00 scale (weighted or unweighted) or ranking within the top 5% of their class. Applicants must also submit a strong letter of recommendation from a club advisor, coach, or teacher.
For students enrolled in homeschooling or charter school programs, requirements are slightly modified. Eligible applicants must submit documented proof of their activities along with a letter of verification or recommendation related to those activities.
For the 2026 cycle, IOHSK received a total of 40 applications from 10 countries. After careful review and evaluation of each applicant’s qualifications and required application materials, IOHSK is proud to announce 10 scholarship recipients. The recipients’ average GPA was 3.98 on a 4.00 scale (with IOHSK converting weighted, unweighted, and 100-point grading scales for consistency). All recipients demonstrated exceptional academic performance, leadership, community service hours, sustained school/community involvement, and strong engagement in health, physical activity, and/or medical-related activities.
Funding Acknowledgment
The scholarship funds are provided through a partnership of the Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie and Randi McKenzie Scholarships and Grants Foundation and the IOHSK Scholarship Funds. Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie is an Emeritus Professor at San Diego State University and has been one of the most internationally recognized and leading scholars in the field of physical activity and sport pedagogy. Mrs. Randi McKenzie is an Emerita Assistant Dean for Student Affairs at San Diego State University who has been dedicated to and committed to serving students for many years. In addition, IOHSK Scholarship Funds were made possible through generous and unanimous donations from IOHSK members in 2026.
