IOHSK Announces Dr. Germina-Alina Cosma as President of IOHSK Europe

The International Organization for Health, Sports, and Kinesiology (IOHSK) is pleased to announce the unanimous election of Dr. Germina-Alina Cosma as President of IOHSK Europe. Dr. Cosma was elected by all 12 members of the IOHSK Board of Directors.

Her presidential term will begin on August 1, 2026, and continue through August 1, 2028. The appointment may be renewed for an additional two-year term based on a future decision of the Board of Directors.

Dr. Cosma previously served as Vice President of IOHSK Europe from 2021 to 2024. During her service, she played an active and instrumental role in advancing IOHSK’s mission, programs, international collaborations, and professional activities. IOHSK is delighted to welcome her into this important leadership position and looks forward to working closely with her. Her experience, commitment, and vision will support the continued growth and expansion of IOHSK throughout Europe.

Dr. Germina-Alina Cosma is a distinguished Romanian scholar, educator, researcher, and academic leader whose career reflects a sustained commitment to physical education, sport science, health promotion, and inclusive participation. She is a professor in the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at the University of Craiova, where she has also served as Head of the Department of Theory and Methodology of Motor Activities.

Her academic qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in physical education, a master’s degree in sport and sport management, a doctorate in physical education and sport, and a habilitation certificate in sport science and physical education.

Beyond her teaching and administrative leadership, Dr. Cosma has made significant contributions to research, doctoral education, scholarly publishing, and international academic cooperation. She has supervised doctoral students, evaluated dissertations, served on university and scientific committees, and held important editorial responsibilities, including serving as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Sport and Kinetic Movement. She has also contributed to the Journal of Health, Sports, and Kinesiology as a member of its Editorial Review Committee.

Dr. Cosma’s research portfolio includes projects supported through Horizon Europe, Erasmus+, and other national and international programs. Her work has addressed innovation in sport science higher education, digital rehabilitation, physical activity among older adults, metabolic health, and inclusive sport and recreation for individuals with intellectual disabilities and Down syndrome.

With more than 200 scholarly articles and conference publications, several authored and co-authored books, and extensive experience as a journal reviewer, Dr. Cosma has established an influential record of academic achievement. Her expertise in dance, choreography, stage movement, and media further demonstrates her multidisciplinary approach to connecting science, education, creativity, inclusion, and community engagement.
