IOHSK Congratulates Dr. Sung-Je Park on His Election as President of the Korea Olympic Torch Association
The International Organization for Health, Sports, and Kinesiology (IOHSK) is proud to announce that Dr. Sung-Je Park, Vice President of IOHSK Asia and Co-Chair of the 9th IOHSK International Conference, has been elected as President of the Korea Olympic Torch Association.
Professor Dr. Sung-Je Park at Chung-Ang University, Korea was inaugurated as the 15th President of the Korea Olympic Torch Association, a nonprofit and non-governmental sports organization in Korea. He was elected during the 2025 Korea Olympic Torch Association Fall Academic Conference, Sports Awards Ceremony, and Presidential Inauguration and Farewell Ceremony, held on December 5 at the Seoul Olympic Parktel. His official term will begin in January 2026.

A former national archery athlete, Dr. Park earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from Chung-Ang University. He currently serves in several prominent leadership roles, including Dean of the College of Physical Education, Vice President of the Korean Society of Sport Science, Vice President of the Korean Society for the Sociology of Sport, and Vice President of IOHSK Asia.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Park stated, “During my term, I will propose future-oriented policies and development strategies for elite sports in Korea, while taking the lead in enhancing morale and advancing the rights and welfare of sports professionals.”
About the Korea Olympic Torch Association: Founded in 1996, the Korea Olympic Torch Association (KOTA) is a private, nonprofit sports organization composed primarily of former elite and Olympic-level athletes who are now university professors, researchers, and sport leaders. The association was established to preserve and promote the Olympic spirit, values, and legacy while contributing to the sustainable development of elite and high-performance sport in Korea.
KOTA plays a key role in:
Developing and proposing national sport policies related to elite and Olympic sport
Supporting athlete development, career transition, and post-athletic education
Advocating for the rights, welfare, and professional recognition of athletes and sport professionals
Hosting academic conferences, symposia, and awards ceremonies that connect sport practice, research, and policy
Strengthening collaboration among universities, sport federations, policymakers, and international sport organizations
Through its academic forums and policy initiatives, the association serves as an important bridge between sport performance, higher education, and national sport governance, ensuring that the voices of former elite athletes are reflected in Korea’s sport system.
