IOHSK Proudly Announces the 2026 Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie International Scholarship Recipients

The International Organization for Health, Sports, and Kinesiology (IOHSK) is proud and delighted to announce the recipients of the 2026 Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie International Scholarships. The Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie Scholarships are among IOHSK’s most distinguished student awards, established to honor the extraordinary legacy and lasting contributions of Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie, IOHSK Lifetime Honorary President, an internationally respected scholar and leader in physical education, physical activity promotion, and public health.

These scholarships are designed to support outstanding undergraduate and graduate students who demonstrate strong academic achievement, research potential, leadership, and a deep commitment to advancing health, sports, physical education, kinesiology, and physical activity for diverse populations worldwide. Recipients are selected based on merit, dedication to their field, and meaningful engagement in IOHSK activities, including conference participation, presentations, publications, leadership, and community service.

Made possible through generous individual donations, the Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie Scholarships continue to inspire the next generation of scholars and professionals by promoting excellence, innovation, and international collaboration in the disciplines that Dr. McKenzie has so profoundly shaped.

After careful review, IOHSK selected the following three outstanding students as the recipients of the 2026 Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie International Scholarships:

2026 Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie International Scholarship Recipients

1. Ms. Steffany Anne Poblador
Master’s student, University of the Immaculate Conception, Philippines, Recommended by Dr. Porferia S. Poralan, MAED-PE Program Coordinator, University of the Immaculate Conception, Philippines.

2. Mr. Kayle Arbado
Third-year undergraduate student, University of Southern Mindanao, Philippines, Recommended by Dr. Ruben L. Tagare, Jr., University of Southern Mindanao, IOHSK Board Member, and IOHSK Fellow (#15).

3. Ms. Youmin Kang
First-year undergraduate student, College of Sport Sciences, Chung-Ang University, South Korea, recommended through the unanimous vote of the College of Sport Sciences, Chung-Ang University, South Korea.


The Scholarship Award Ceremony will take place during the 9th IOHSK International Conference, to be held at Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea, on July 22–24, 2026. Each recipient will receive an official scholarship certificate and a $300 scholarship award.

IOHSK warmly congratulates all recipients of the 2026 Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie Scholarships. Their accomplishments, promise, and commitment to the field represent the very spirit of this prestigious award.

IOHSK also extends its deepest gratitude to Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie for his continued generosity and support since 2020. His contributions have made a profound and lasting impact on the lives of more than 100 international students, many of whom have gone on to become professionals and leaders in health, sports, and kinesiology, including university professors, physical education teachers, medical doctors, coaches, health professionals, public officers, pharmacists, nurses, researchers, and physical therapists.

Today, being named a Dr. Thomas L. McKenzie Scholarship recipient is internationally recognized as a significant honor and has become one of the most respected and prestigious student distinctions in the fields of health, sports, and kinesiology around the world.
